More than 72 dead after days of violent protests rock Iraq

Ns News Online DeskNs News Online Desk: About 72 or more are dead in Iraq and hundreds more were injured after four days of protests and unrest in Baghdad Saturday, according to Reuters. A curfew aimed at curbing the violence was also formally lifted.

The unrest is the worst in Iraq since large portions of the country were taken over by ISIS and is considered a critical test for Prime Minister Adil Abdul-Mahdi. The protests, which have now also spread to other cities, were sparked by ongoing complaints of government corruption and lack of government services.
