Paterson City honors journalist Karamot Ullah Biplob for work on immigration

Paterson City, New Jersey, has honored Karamot Ullah Biplob as an “immigrant-friendly” journalist. He was recognized for highlighting the lives and struggles of immigrants from various countries, including Bangladeshis living in the United States. Mayor Andre Sayegh presented Karamot Ullah Biplob with a city administration “proclamation” at City Hall on Wednesday.
Mayor Sayegh praised the Bangladeshi community in Paterson City (home to approximately 30,000 Bangladeshis) for their respect for the law, cooperation in urban development, and interfaith harmony. He expressed concern about the increasing number of immigrants and refugees worldwide due to climate change and natural disasters, particularly in South Asian countries.
Karamot Ullah Biplob, Secretary General of the South Asian Climate Change Journalists Forum (SACCJF) and a prominent Bangladeshi journalist, is currently in the United States on an international fellowship researching the struggles of climate refugees and migrants. He has already received honors from the US government in New York and Buffalo for this work.
