Ns News Online Desk: Russia appears to be hiding elements of its 40-mile-long military convoy to prevent further Ukrainian attacks, the Pentagon said Friday.

A senior US defense official told reporters that said some of the vehicles have been moved off the road and parked amid nearby trees, according to accounts of the briefing posted on Twitter.

The move appears intended to “disguise” the vehicles so Ukrainians can’t target them, the official said.

The revelation came after satellite images released Thursday showed that the convoy was breaking up, with some of its armored vehicles apparently being deployed into the suburbs north of Kyiv.

The Pentagon has said that repeated Ukrainian attacks on the slow-moving convoy, which was spotted on Feb. 28, appeared to have stalled its progress, causing fuel and food shortages that demoralized the troops involved
