Trump says Mexico is laughing at US immigration policies

Ns News Online DeskNs News Online Desk: President Donald J.Trump on Sunday tweeted the need for a barrier on the country’s southern border and said Mexico is laughing at “our dumb immigration” laws – declaring “NEED WALL!”

“Mexico is doing very little, if not NOTHING, at stopping people from flowing into Mexico through their Southern Border, and then into the U.S. They laugh at our dumb immigration laws,” Trump wrote on Sunday. “They must stop the big drug and people flows, or I will stop their cash cow, NAFTA. NEED WALL! ”

He added that “caravans” are coming to the US to take advantage of the Obama-era policy Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals that protects young immigrants brought illegally to the United States as children from deportation.

“These big flows of people are all trying to take advantage of DACA. They want in on the act!,” he wrote in a series of Twitter posts as he traveled in his motorcade from his Mar-a-Lago Florida resort to Easter Mass. Asked about DACA as he arrived at the Church of Bethesda-by-the Sea for services, Trump said Mexico has to help stem the flow of immigrants.

“Mexico has got help us at the border. And a lot of people are coming in because they want to take advantage of DACA. And we’re going to have to really see,” he said. “They had a great chance, the Democrats blew it. … But we’ll have to take a look. But Mexico has got to help us at the border. They flow right through

Mexico. They send them into the United States. Can’t happen that way anymore.” Continuing his Easter Sunday Twitter rant, Trump called on Republicans to stop negotiating with Democrats over DACA and employ the “nuclear option” to pass tougher border security laws.

“Border Patrol Agents are not allowed to properly do their job at the Border because of ridiculous liberal (Democrat) laws like Catch & Release,” Trump wrote. “Getting more dangerous. “Caravans” coming. Republicans must go to Nuclear Option to pass tough laws NOW. NO MORE DACA DEAL! ”

The nuclear option would allow the GOP-controlled Senate to pass legislation with a simple majority instead of 60 votes, which would allow Republicans to more easily move bills through the chamber.

But the Republican leadership hasn’t been receptive to calls for changing the voting procedures. The $1.4 trillion omnibus spending bill that passed the House and Senate last month included $1.6 billion for border security but allocated only $38 million for “border barrier planning and design.”

Trump had sought $25 billion. The spending bill did not included protections for recipients of DACA, which Trump last September gave lawmakers six months to fix.
