US delivers aid to town bordering Venezuela to undermine President Nicolas Maduro

Ns News Online Desk: The US military airlifted 180 tons of aid to a Colombian town on the Venezuelan border Saturday as part of an effort meant to undermine socialist President Nicolas Maduro.

Three Air Force C-17 cargo planes from Homestead Air Reserve Base in Florida carried food and other aid to Cucuta. The border city, which is swollen with migrants from Venezuela, is serving as a collection point for aid that’s supposed to be distributed by supporters of Juan Guaido, the congressional leader recognized by the US and many other nations as Venezuela’s legitimate president.Commercial planes had been used for earlier aid shipments.

Maduro has been using the military to block the shipments from entering Venezuela.Guaido told a crowd of supporters in Caracas on Saturday that caravans of activists would travel to the border to bring in the aid.
