US- Four people on Long Island died of storm-related deaths

Ns News Online Desk:Ns News Online Desk: Four people died on Long Island during Saturday’s powerful winter storm – including three men who had been shoveling snow, authorities said.

The first man drowned at about 8:30 a.m. after he fell into a swimming pool while clearing snow at his home in Cutchogue, police told The Suffolk Times.

Later in the day, two other male victims died in the same Nassau County of Syosset, police said. At about 2.30 p.m., a 75-year-old man collapsed while shoveling snow at a Barbara Drive residence.

Emergency responders administered CPR and took the man to North Shore Syosset Hospital, where he was declared dead.

Nearby at a home on Belmont Circle, an unresponsive 53-year-old man was found outside lying on his back next to a snow shovel at about 10:40 p.m., police said.

The second man was also taken to North Shore Syosset Hospital and pronounced dead. Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman told WNBC-TV that early Saturday morning a snowplow driver found a dead woman inside a car in Uniondale. Blakeman said it appears the woman suffered some type of medical episode and couldn’t seek help.

The series of deaths occurred as Long Island was pummeled by Winter Storm Kenan. Blizzard conditions and over two feet of snow were reported in parts of Suffolk County.
