Trump lauds service members, takes shot at Biden in Veterans Day video
Ns News Online Desk: Former President Donald Trump called America’s military veterans “incredible people” in a Veterans Day video message — and promised them that “our country will be back.”
“On this Veterans Day, I’d like to pay tribute to all of those incredible people, and you are indeed incredible people, who serve so well and so strong and so powerfully in the United States Armed Forces,” he said in a video released Thursday morning on the online platform Rumble.
The 45th president, wearing a dark suit and red tie, sat behind a desk with an American flag behind him to his right. A photo of Mount Rushmore hung on the wall to his left.
“We love you, our nation respects you, the world respects you, and we will come back. Our country has gone through a lot. The last period of time has been very, very tough watching what you had to watch, but our country will be back and we’ll be back stronger than ever,” Trump said before adding. “Happy Veterans Day.” President Biden’s administration has been mired in crisis since he took office in January, setbacks that have led to the president’s poll numbers dropping precipitously since August.
It was immediately faced with a rise in COVID-19 cases caused by the Delta variant, a surge of asylum-seekers at the southern border that overwhelmed government facilities.
Then came August and the military pullout from Afghanistan that collapsed into a messy, chaotic retreat and led to the death of 13 US service members as well as American citizens being left behind. The White House is now dealing with the highest rate of inflation in 31 years and a global supply chain backup that is causing gas prices to spike along with the cost of most everyday goods as the nation enters the holiday season.
Biden, who sold himself to voters as the consummate deal-maker from his decades in Congress, has managed to pass a $2.2 trillion coronavirus relief bill and a $1.2 trillion infrastructure deal through Congress, but his Build Back Better social spending package is mired in infighting among progressive and moderate Democrats.
And Trump has been a vocal critic of the president all along, even calling on Biden to resign over the Afghanistan debacle.“It is time for Joe Biden to resign in disgrace for what he has allowed to happen to Afghanistan, along with the tremendous surge in COVID, the Border catastrophe, the destruction of energy independence, and our crippled economy,” the former president wrote in a statement in August.
Trump said in an interview this week with Fox News that he’ll “probably” announce a decision about whether he’ll run for president in 2024 after the 2022 midterm elections.
“I am certainly thinking about it and we’ll see. I think a lot of people will be very happy, frankly, with the decision, and probably [I] will announce that after the midterms,” he said.
